The Research Group Ambient Media (Fachgruppe Ambient Media)
The Research Group Ambient Media at the Faculty of Media, University of Applied Sciences Mittweida, has been established 2009 thanks to the initiative of Prof. Wierzbicki, with the help of the former Dean Faculty, Prof. Ludwig Hilmer.
With ambient media communications channels are tied to specific areas of peoples’ lives or a specific environment context. Often the specific atmosphere of an environment is utilised, as is the case with ambient advertising.
The term ambient media reflects merely the blending of the communications channels with the environment and should not be interpreted as anything more than purely a special form of advertising with surprising appearances in unusual environments.
The current focus of our activities is placed in converged media (GAMECAST), creative content (SL:MIMA) and learning environments.
The Ambient Media Group is headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Robert J. Wierzbicki.
Thomas Schmieder, BA, is the chief producer of GAMECAST.
